Yolanda Eljaiek is a Porcelain and Oil Painting Teacher. Yolanda creates exquisite representational art on canvas and on porcelain. She uses a wide range of media –oils, acrylics, pastels, 18k gold and minerals – to create sensual images of flowers, fruits and women. Her work exhibits a very high level of craftsmanship; Eljaiek has a delicate hand, and her precision and attention to detail is apparent. Her still lifes glow with an inner light, inviting viewers to explore the suggestive curves and openings that elegantly hint at femininity. Her portraits of women on porcelain, on the other hand, are highly stylized; they present idealized women’s faces with an Egyptian flair, invoking the collective cultural memory of figures like Cleopatra and Nefertiti to evoke a response. Taken together, they form a unique body of work that explores the strength and softness of women.
The landscapes and still life paintings are the themes that give her works a national flavor; they are related to the world around her, a world the artist is part of. The importance of the realism shows her admiration for the paintings of Maestro Ricardo Gomez Campuzano, and like him, she paints everything she likes in a meticulous, delicate, and fine manner. Due to her extraordinary artistic sensibility, Yolanda fully enjoys teaching art, she not only lives art but she enjoys sharing it."
Our artist comes out of her studio looking for unifying ideas that can provide consistency and a sense of art. This approach has transformed Yolanda into an interpreter of life, and because of her unique style she is able to seize in her paintings the joys of life and declares her love for the land where she was born.
My family have always been loving and supportive of me and my art, the creative process that is so necessary for me. Landscapes and still lifes are my main subjects, usually in oil and acrylic. I imbue the images with a touch of the romantic, and enjoy the connection they form between me and the world to which I belong. I love to share my view of the world through my art and through teaching others to paint, something that I find immensely fulfilling. As well as having shown my artwork nationally and internationally and having received various awards, I have been part of the jury in several art competitions – something that I feel helps me to maintain an objectivity and broad scope and understanding in my own art."
